Charging your Mighty: Best Practices and Recommendations

Charging Cable

USB-to-3.5mm Aux-in charging cables are often designed specifically for the devices they come with. Your Mighty requires its original charging cable to ensure proper functionality and to avoid potential damage.

  • Use only the original Mighty charging cable provided with your device.

  • Some off-brand or third-party cables may have their polarities swapped, which can result in improper charging or permanent damage to your Mighty.

  • Should you prefer an off-brand cable, this one has been tested and confirmed to work with Mighty. Please note that we can't guarantee the quality and reliability of off-brand cables.

Recommended Charging Blocks / Adapters

  1. USB Wall Adapter (Charging Block)

    • Use a charging block with an output of 5V DC and a current rating between 500mA (0.5A) and 1A.

    • Avoid fast chargers or blocks with outputs of 2A or higher, as they can overheat the battery and shorten its lifespan.

    • Always check your charger's label for voltage and current output.

  2. USB Ports

    • Standard USB ports on computers or laptops (5V/0.5A) are safe and stable for charging your Mighty.

    • Avoid high-powered USB ports (common on newer laptops and docking stations) that may output excessive current.

    • If using a USB hub, ensure it is powered and delivers a stable charge.

    • Note: Ensure your computer is powered on during charging. Otherwise, the USB port may not supply power.

  3. Power Banks

    • A reliable power bank that outputs 5V/1A is a great option for portable charging.

    • Use power banks from reputable manufacturers to prevent voltage surges or unstable power output.

Charging Best Practices

Follow these best practices to extend the lifespan of your Mighty’s battery - these also apply to any other device that’s powered by a lithium-ion battery (eg. phones, tablets, smartwatches & etc.):

  1. Charge at the Right Time

    • Avoid draining the battery completely. Recharge your Mighty when it drops to 20% or when the LED starts blinking Orange.

    • Keep your Mighty's battery charge between 20% and 80% whenever possible, for optimal lifespan.

  2. Avoid Overcharging

    • While Mighty stops charging once the battery is full, unplugging it promptly is still recommended.

    • Prolonged charging can generate unnecessary heat, which degrades battery health.

  3. Keep Temperatures Moderate

    • Charge your Mighty in a cool, well-ventilated area.

    • Avoid extreme temperatures, such as below 0ºC (32ºF) or above 40ºC (104ºF).

    • Never charge in direct sunlight, near heaters, or under blankets.

  4. Use Your Mighty Regularly

    • Your Mighty's battery performs best with consistent use.

    • If you plan to store Mighty for long periods, charge it to about 60% before putting it away.

  5. Charge During Sync or Updates

    • Syncing music, podcasts, or performing software updates uses more power than regular use or playback.

    • Keep Mighty plugged into a charger during these processes to prevent battery drain.

  6. Monitor Charging Behavior

    • If Mighty gets excessively hot, charges slowly, or doesn’t charge at all, inspect the cable, charging block, or USB port.
